Fruit Salad Ingredients
Here are a few notes about the strawberry pear and mint fruit salad ingredients you will need for this recipe:
- Pears: I prefer to go for conference pears for this recipe as they taste just that tad bit better. They should be a nice balance between soft and firm to make this recipe extra fab! If your pears are still a little firm, you can still use them, just stay away from the mushy ones. Trust me.
- Strawberries: Fresh ripe strawberries compliments well with the pears. Again, you don’t want to use any mushy ones for this recipe.
- Mint: Do not leave this step out. I repeat, do not! If you’re not a herby person, add a touch of mint. This recipe works best with it in as it adds a fresh burst of flavor when mixed with the fruits.
- Maple syrup: The choice of sweetener to use is completely up to you! I typically opt for maple syrup as it tends to be a little healthier without compromising on sweetness. If you like honey, go for it—even better! Other sweeteners you can use: golden syrup, sugar or stevia.
- Water: Don’t go overboard with the water. You don’t want your fruit salad swimming. Use just enough to soak the bottom of the bowl (half a cup). The water will help the salad marinate a little and transform it from dry to extra juicy.

How to make this strawberry pear and mint fruit salad
Here is a step-by-step overview of the recipe. The full ingredients and instructions are featured in the recipe card below.
Chop the fruits: Using a chopping board, chop up the pears followed by the strawberries into bite sized chunks (roughly 1cm cubes) and place them into a bowl.
Mince the mint: Remove the stems of the mint and roughly mince the leaves. If you’d like to use the stems too, you can, but it’s best to leave them out. Once done, add them to the bowl.
Drizzle the syrup and add the water: Add your sweetener of choice over all the ingredients and finish it off with water.
Mix: Using a wooden or large serving spoon, combine all the ingredients and mix thoroughly.
Serving options and other suggestions
- This fruit salad can be enjoyed as an appetizer, snack or dessert.
- It’s a perfect summer dish but it can be eaten all year round (it’s that good!)
- Place it in the fridge if you’re not serving it straight away. It’s best eaten cold (or cool) rather than warm.
- The longer you leave the salad to marinate the better it tastes (even up to 30 minutes is enough).
- The fruit salad can be stored in the fridge for up to one day but be aware it may be a little mushier if left for long periods of time. Do not freeze.
